The Dragon's Operation
Blue Dragon Studios is a full-featured, digital, remote, recording, mixing and mastering company. We employ the state of the art, industry standard Digidesign ProTools HD3 hardware and software suite, capable of recording 32 channels of audio simultaneously at up to 192 kHz (that’s 192,000 samples per second – standard CD players operate at 44,100).
This system allows Blue Dragon to record, mix and master audio with the same quality as the big analog recording studios at a fraction of the cost and time. And with industry standard Waves and Digidesign “plug-ins” (digital audio processing tools), we can edit, sweeten and process recorded audio in any way imaginable.
For a front end, Blue Dragon Studios employs industry standard studio microphones from Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Electrovoice, Shure, Earthworks, Oktava, and Audix. Thirty-two channels of high-quality, transparent Focusrite Class A pre-amps give Blue Dragon an immensely flexible recording suite.
For those times where transparent pre-amps aren’t enough, Blue Dragon Studios has four Focusrite LiquidChannel channel strips (combination pre-amp, compressor and EQ). Liquid Channels are high quality digital emulations of over forty classic analog pre-amps and compressors. These channel strips can be used to record audio directly, or to sweeten already recorded audio, giving it that special something (warmth, fatness, crispness, etc.) previously limited to the classic analog gear of yesteryear.
In addition to being enormously capable, Blue Dragon’s entire recording suite is completely PORTABLE! The entire system breaks down into eight Road Cases and sets up on location in a space the size of a small dining room table. With transformer isolated recording snakes, Blue Dragon’s recording suite is easily and transparently integrated into any band’s or concert house’s sound system to capture that once-in-a-lifetime LIVE performance.
Once recording is complete, Blue Dragon’s system is reassembled in our acoustically-accurate post processing studio, where the recorded audio is skillfully mixed and mastered into its final form (Redbook Standard CD, 24Bit CD, Wave Files, etc.).
In addition to recording, mixing and mastering, Blue Dragon Studios offers the following services:
* High quality digital and analog Audio Transfer between ProTools and any other pre-recorded audio format/device a client may possess (Analog Tape, ADAT, DA-88/98, CD, Cassette, etc.).
* Audio Post Processing, or “Sweetening” of previously recorded audio – Blue Dragon has the capability of post processing poorly or inadequately recorded audio to produce audio suitable for mixing and mastering into a production recording.
